Art's Shelves -- noun -- This refers to any downtime that the LF website incurs. The server that hosts the LF website is located in Arterius' basement. One day, Art was building some new shelves and cabinets in there. In order to install them, he had to unplug the server, causing a brief, yet unannounced downtime. Since that time, any problems with the website are blamed on Art's shelves. In fact, any problems related to the Internet in general are now blamed on Art's shelves. So if you ever disconnect during a crucial boss fight, now you know why.
Auto-shot + AFK -- verb -- To fight in easy mode like a hunter. See *Grading Papers*
Bad Bunny -- noun -- This phrase is commonly used as an exclamation of exasperation. It refers to well-known LF member Mysticbunny for pulling a blunder of minor to moderate proportions. The exclaimee generally says, "Bad bunny!" or "That's a bad bunny!" and her response is usually something like "No! I was a good bunny!" Similar to Art's shelves, in this manner Bunny often takes the blame for things not even remotely associated with her.
Barry White -- adjective -- Whenever someone is physically sick with a head or chest cold, they will occasionally be asked to give their best Barry White impersonation. [[This trend began with Kergan late one night in Serpentshrine Cavern. While recovering from a throat or chest illness, his voice dropped several octaves so that he was compared to Barry White. During break time, raid members were treated to a soothing and sultry Barry White song being played over Ventrilo in honor of Kergan. Everyone /danced.]]
Bike Theft -- verb -- Much mystery shrouds this term. Suffice it to say, if you've ever lost your bike, Anthas probably has it. See picture.
Butt Gnome -- noun -- This is a NPC vendor often used in outdoor raids to repair gear. The vendor appears as a passenger on the [Reins of the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth], a mount that allows vendors to accompany players on their travels. [[The fact that the mount (and its vendors) seemingly appear from nowhere, the term "butt gnome" was coined by Nutxo. It should also be stated that this is probably the only Nutxo quote allowed in the LF Glossary (see Family Channel).]]
Chaka Chaka Choo Choo! -- exclamation -- This exclamation simply must be yelled, hollered, blurted, or babbled upon Chaka's initial login for the evening. He has developed a rare tick that, if he doesn't see or hear this phrase within 15 seconds upon entering Azeroth, he will run to the corner of his man cave and rub Fat Free Miracle Whip all over his face. It scares his children. So please, do it for the children!
Chicken & Waffles -- noun -- A delicious meal enjoyed by certain LF members in Arizona, and other LF members who bravely choose to visit the Arizona crew. See picture.
Clump -- noun -- This raid formation style occurs when all raid members stand as close to one another as possible. Thankfully, in World of Warcraft, two or more physical bodies can occupy the same space ("that's dirty!"). verb -- When the Raid Leader exclaims, "Clump up!" it doesn't mean they're having undergarment issues. Nor are they talking about cottage cheese or advances in kitty litter science. Instead, it means they desire to see all members stand on top of each other in the same physical coordinates in game for the purposes of defeating a particular boss. Raid Leaders who commonly issue the "Clump up!" command have been nicknamed "Clumpy" by their peers.
Dropping a Doughnut -- verb -- To pull a major blunder in-game because of a trivial real-life distraction. [[This term is a dedication to Talumandias who wiped a raid in Blackwing Lair by auto-running directly into Vaelastrasz's room without hugging the wall. Confused, other raid members questioned him why he did it. His response was, "I dropped my doughnut and I was trying to pick it up with my mouse."]]
Family Channel -- exclamation -- This phrase is frequently used in guild chat, raid chat, and Ventrilo when the topic of conversation is veering towards ideas that are not deemed acceptable under the family-friendly tone of Legio Fenix. On occasion, this phrase is mis-used to incite humor when the original topic of discussion had nothing to do with taboo subjects. A substitute phrase used in this case might be the words "That's dirty!" as uttered in a high-pitched, little girl voice.
Grading Papers -- verb -- Whenever Marculus is AFK for a ready-check, we all assume he's just grading papers. Marc is known as a dedicated and loyal schoolteacher and will not remain silent if he hears that any LF members are choosing raids before grades. In fact, many have been skeeved for even suggesting such a notion. It's also widely assumed that Marc doesn't really actively participate in boss fights. It's purported that he just goes "Auto-shot + AFK" to grade papers. See *Auto-shot + AFK*
Hugglez -- noun -- Derivitave of the word "hugs". This is usually phrased in the form of an expression prior to logging off the game for the day. It also can be used in instances of happiness or when showing support for a colleague when they're down. Extra Zs at the end signify extra huggy-ness. It should be noted that hugglez are usually shared between females, or male and female. It is considered taboo to offer hugglez from male to male (although the times, they are a'changin').
"It'll Never Drop Again" -- quote -- Whenever a player is deliberating whether to bid on a loot item or not, it's common practice to warn them with this quote [[coined by Hum]]. This is a strategic way to get players to spend their LFKP. Other similar quotes also work such as, "Bid high, or go home!" and "Bid like you mean it!" These quotes are especially effective on hunters, since their loot never drops.
kk -- exclamation -- This is an expression of agreement or acknowledgment, used when someone can't be bothered to type such difficult words as "okay" or "ok." When verbally uttered over Ventrilo, most view it as a warning sign requiring intervention -- it's time to separate the speaker from their computer for a few days. (The same can be said for "lol")
Kzia-ese -- noun -- Any sort of confusing text that appears in chat bars. This can apply to multiple misspelled words within one sentence, or the outright mis-shifting of hands on the keyboard from the "home" position while continuing to obliviously type away. [[This term is dedicated to Kzia for her frequent typing mishaps. Kzia is also well-known for her east coast accent on words such as "boss", and is also probably the sweetest lady you'll ever meet in WoW.]]
Last Attempt -- noun -- This takes place usually at the end of a long raid night. The Raid Leader will call "Last Attempt" on a boss fight, signifying that if we fail to kill the boss, the raid is over. Oftentimes, this is called when the raid is not in the right mindset to actually raid. Sometimes it's called after many wipes, to save the Phalanx from excessive repair costs and forehead bruises. Occasionally however, a wiley Raid Leader will call "Last Attempt" as a gamble to get the raid team to put forth a little extra effort and attention. This is usually accompanied by Kergan eating a [Nagrand Cherry] for luck.
LFKP (or Legio Fenix Kill Points) -- noun -- Similar to "DKP" or (Dragon Kill Points) used by other guilds, these are used to purchase loot items in raid. These are also occasionally stolen from your account and conveniently placed within Blackal's.
Meh! -- exclamation -- a phrase uttered when someone has doubt, disbelief, or disinterest to the current conversation or previous statement in guild chat. When physically spoken in Ventrilo, it's commonly accepted that the speaker likes the sound of their own voice and has absolutely nothing witty to say. Lesser-used derivatives can include "Bah," "Phooey," and "Whatever."
Moonfire Blindness -- noun -- a common ailment suffered by melee DPS and tanks during the Supremus fight in Black Temple. It's understood that the cause of this malady can be pinned on certain over-enthusiastic and mischievous druids who like to hear their teammates scream in pain over Ventrilo.
Normalize Vent -- verb -- The act of setting up one's Ventrilo client in such a way that all persons' voices sound roughly at the same volume level. This is said to prevent permanent hearing loss from screaming kids, squawking birds, and squeaking feedback (The culprits know who they are). There is a helpful post in the forums which explains how to normalize vent. Remember, when you normalize Vent, all you're doing is changing how other people sound to you. You can't normalize the way you sound to other people. Face it, you are simply too abnormal for such a task.
Ony Burgers -- noun -- An optimistic phrase referring to the dragon Onyxia from 1.x content. This phrase was often uttered as reassurance and encouragement to the raid that Onyxia would die soon, thus awarding loot to the raid, even if attempted seriously undermanned with 30 people.
Pally Tears -- noun -- Quite possibly the most scrumptious delicacy known to mankind. When a paladin cries, you should be there with a vial in hand, ready to collect these sweet droplets of deliciousness. If you need help encouraging the tears to flow, just remind your favorite pally of how good they look in pink, or blow out the candle that's stapled to their forehead. Then get ready to chow down.
Pickles! -- exclamation -- An exclamatory one-word phrase used in substitution of any word that might be considered vulgar or profane. As a family-friendly guild, Legio Fenix prohibits the use of profanity in guild chat, raid chat, forum posts, and Ventrilo. *see Family Channel* "Pickles" is often-substituted when one finds it difficult to abstain from cussing.
Raid Preparedness -- noun -- The status of being ready to raid by the time the raid begins. This includes, but is not limited to: repaired gear, being physically at the zone in, sufficiently stocked with goods such as stat food, reagents, and potions, carrying supplemental gear such as resistance items and alternate spec items, understanding of roles and strategies for upcoming encounters, completing bio needs such as snacks and restroom before first pull. Players with poor Raid Preparedness will quickly draw the ire of guild leadership, and will be often mocked by fellow raid members.
Roll on the Might Shoulders -- verb -- A frustrating threat to roll on an item of another class or spec when your desired item repeatedly does not drop over many boss kills. [[This term is a tribute to Chaka, a Paladin, whose T1 shoulders seemingly never dropped while he was in the raid. Near his rope's end, Chaka decided he may as well steal warrior shoulders for healing purposes.]]
Rubber Ducky -- verb -- The act of singing, preferably over Ventrilo, to ease tension or to raise morale during a raid. Oftentimes assigned to the first raid member to blunder during a boss fight, the song choices can include "Rubber Ducky," "I'm a Little Teapot," or any creative bard's tale about their character's burleyness during battle. [[This term is dedicated to Skybears who often sings to keep her healing crew light-hearted after stressful and ill-advised triple and quadruple-group pulls by certain pink paladins.]]
SA (or Situational Awareness) -- noun -- This trait or skill speaks to a player's ability to quickly understand and react to what's going on around them from several perspectives during in-game combat. As boss encounters become more complex in WoW, raiders need a higher sense of urgency bundled with speedy reaction times and precise actions. If you have poor SA, you're the one always dying in the flame patches. Threels breaks keyboards because of you.
Skeeve -- verb -- To be kicked from the guild as a joke. This action is usually followed with an immediate guild invite. People can be skeeved for many reasons. If you have been skeeved, perhaps you either insulted one of the Tribunus, or insulted someone else who was being defended by the Tribunus. You may also be skeeved if the Tribunus deems it a necessary reaction to the rapidly increasing size of your head. Some people are even skeeved during a bout of boredom, whereby a random number generator determines the skeevee. [[The term "skeeve" is a dedication to an LF raider by the same name who is on hiatus from WoW until approximately Fall of 2010. This person holds the undetermined record for receiving the most guild kicks in history.]]
Super Powers -- noun -- In an attempt at reverse-psychology, this term is used to get people to avoid standing in certain detrimental areas (i.e. fires, death runes, hurricanes, laser beams, void zones, poison clouds, etc.). Apparently, it's not always helpful to say, "Stay out of the fire," whenever a health-reducing effect appears. When painful areas appear, some folks inevitably run into them. But by using this cunning phrase, "The fire will give you super powers," theorists have surmised that these same people will logically avoid the fire (since they perceive it as beneficial). [[This strategy was invented by Anthas, therefore use at your own risk. Management will not be held responsible for any deaths or dismemberment incurred as a result of using this phrase.]]
Sushi -- noun -- The world's most perfect food. Best consumed in the all-you-can-eat variety alongside other LF members in Arizona. If you hear of a gathering, you won't want to miss it.
Wanding -- verb -- The smooth act of pulling aggro yet shifting the blame elsewhere. [[This term is dedicated to Nutxo who has been known on frequent occasions to pull aggro of the main tank. Without pause, his response is usually, "I was only wanding."]]
Whisper a Lock -- verb -- The act of communication that should take place between a player and a warlock, whereby the player humbly requests a summon to the raid group (see *Raid Preparedness*). [[This term is dedicated to Faddan who used a macro that said, "Please whisper a lock directly for a summons, it saves time and prevents double summons. Thank you". Despite the frequent reminder, people still constantly request to be summoned in raid chat or guild chat.]]
Wildfury Greatstaff -- noun -- (also known as Donkey's staff) This item was a frequent drop for LF during its raid time in Serpentshrine Cavern. At the time, it was also the most sought-after staff by druids in the game. All of the LF druids had it. All of them, that is, except for Dunkoro (aka. Donkey, Spunks). In fact, not only did all druids had it, but all the warlocks had it as well, just for the sick purpose of flaunting it in poor Dunkoro's face. Toward the end of LF's raid in SSC, even a few hunters and priests had the staff. Despite his adamant claims to the contrary, there has never been any concrete evidence that Dunkoro ever got the staff. All alleged proof provided by Dunkoro has been dismissed with witty retorts such as "Bah!" or "Meh!"
ZOMG -- like, maybe it's a noun or totally a verb, you know? -- So, like, this one time, I went to this raid, right? And like, there were these bosses who were totally mean, you know? And we were all like, "I'm gonna kill you, you mean bosses!" And so we like totally killed them right? Yeah, totally. And then they dropped this awesome loot. I was like all drooling over it and stuff, and so was this other warrior. He was like OMG WOW, but I was like ZOMG! I totally wanted it more.
I do have a question tho, is that vent normalization something I need to put on for it to normalize for other people or do THEY need to put it on so save themselves from the blood curdling screams ...I mean hugs, my children give?
Hugglez Hugglez, Mys Bunny ( Y ) (>';'<) (") (") Why does everything I whip leave me? EPA Official: S-sir, I'm afraid you've gone mad with power... Russ Cargill: Of course I have. You ever tried going mad without power? It's boring. No one listens to you!
No one cares, Donkey..it's not proof enough in our hearts...
