In case you all have not heard wanted to post this on the LF site here. Interesting information from Nethaera on the wow forums:

"Ok, I have some quick clarification on a few things.

Yes the bosses scale and should act as if 3 levels higher than each individual player. So this will only affect, chance to resist, glancing blows and to hit for each person. Ex. If you are 70 it will react as if it is 73. If you are 60, it will be 63. The hitpoints do not go up nor does the damage that the mob does. The only thing that is scaling is damage mitigation based on each player attacking the mob.

So to clear it up, it does not scale based on the highest member of the raid. The loot tables remain unchanged as well."

Thats good to know, but doesn't exactly explain away the 15k 1-shotters that Patchwerk was doing to lvl 70 warrior tanks in the beta.

That was indicated as a bug, and was subsequently fixed.

One of those "whoops...not-working-as-intended" quick fixes to their game mechanics, eh? Call me a cynic, but I suspect that was more of a game mechanics tuning than an inadvertent bug. Still its good to know its been addressed, it gives hope that we might actually *BE* to do MC after we reach level 70!

I have no doubt that we can. As Netherea states, the only thing that scales are resists, glancing blows and "to hit" for players. The base damage of the boss does not change. The only other variable other than level is the armor we're using. Using level 60 armor at level 70 would be bad, because your damage mitigation would be low (very low infact). As we start to replace T2 with other equipment designed for level 70s, we'll likely see that damage reduction number go up. And that's what will get us through MC/BWL/AQ40/Naxx. And while we may be able to breeze through many of the combats in those instances, quite a few of them still require lots of coordination and raw skill.

Hopefully we'll have enough critical mass to start doing instances again in a couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to it.
